This page explains the terms of use for this site and how visitor data is collected and used.
Terms of use
This site and its content, including all text, characters and story material, are the property of the site owner unless otherwise stated. You may read and share content for personal, non-commercial use. Reproduction, republication or commercial use of any material without written permission is not permitted.
This site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. The site owner is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site.
Cookies
This site does not use cookies. It does, however, store a small piece of data in your browser's local storage: a randomly generated visitor identifier. This identifier is not a cookie and is not sent automatically with every request, but it persists across visits and lets visit records be linked to the same browser over time. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Data we collect
When you visit a page on this site, the following information is recorded automatically and stored in a database:
The page and URL you visited, the page that referred you here, your browser's user agent string, the date and time of the visit and the persistent visitor identifier described below, which allows separate visits from the same browser to be linked together.
Your IP address is also looked up against a third-party geolocation service to determine an approximate city, region, country and set of coordinates. The IP address itself, along with this approximate location, is stored alongside the visit record.
Why we collect it
This information is used solely to understand traffic to the site, such as which pages are read and roughly where readers are located. It is not used for advertising, profiling or marketing and it is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the service providers named below.
Who processes this data
Visit records are stored using Google Firebase (Firestore), operated by Google. The approximate location lookup is performed by ipapi.co, a third-party IP geolocation provider, which receives your IP address at the moment of the lookup. Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policies, which you can find on their respective websites.
Legal basis
Where relevant data protection law requires a legal basis, this processing is carried out on the basis of the site owner's legitimate interest in understanding readership and site usage, in a way that is proportionate and does not involve tracking you across other sites or building an advertising profile.
Retention
Visit records are kept for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described above, after which they may be deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data has been recorded about a visit, to request its deletion or to object to its collection. To make such a request, contact [email protected].
Children
This site is not directed at children and no attempt is made to collect additional information from anyone known to be a child.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
